COMPLETE TOWER CLOCK SYSTEMS

From the clock mechanism to the hands

A large tower clock is not only a clock movement. The mechanism, mounting structure, shafts, hands and electronic controller have to operate as one reliable system. ELEMIK designs and manufactures the key elements required to build or modernize professional tower and facade clocks.

Depending on the building construction, the mechanism can be installed directly behind the clock face or connected to the hands through a dedicated mounting structure and shaft extension. This allows the system to be adapted to church towers, historic buildings, town halls, industrial facilities and modern architectural facades.

New tower clocks

Complete engineering of the mechanism, control system, mounting arrangement, hands and time synchronization for a new clock installation.

Clock modernization

Replacement of worn or obsolete drives and controllers while retaining an existing dial, hands or historic architectural character where appropriate.

Facade clocks

Large-format clock systems for public buildings, commercial facilities, stations, industrial sites and custom architectural projects.

DIALS AND CLOCK HANDS

Designed for the building, not only for the mechanism

A tower clock is both a technical device and an architectural element. The proportions of the hands, dial layout, indexes, colours and mounting method therefore need to match the scale and style of the building.

  • large-format clock hands designed for tower and facade applications,
  • clock dials and indexes for new and modernized installations,
  • solutions compatible with illuminated clock hands and architectural lighting,
  • direct-behind-dial installation or remote mechanism installation with shaft extension.

INSTALLATION AND MODERNIZATION

Tower clocks for churches, town halls and historic buildings

Every tower has a different geometry, wall thickness, access route and connection between the clock movement and the hands. For this reason, the correct mechanism is selected together with the required mounting structure, shaft arrangement and controller.

In restoration projects, the technical modernization can be performed while preserving the appearance and architectural character of the clock. ELEMIK has participated in renovation and modernization projects including the historic clock of the Wrocław Town Hall.

PROJECT INFORMATION

What do we need to select a tower clock system?

For an initial technical assessment, send us photographs of the existing clock or installation area together with a few basic dimensions. This is usually enough to determine whether the mechanism can be installed directly behind the dial or requires a shaft extension and supporting structure.

1. Photographs

Clock face, existing mechanism, shaft and hands, mounting points and available space behind the dial.

2. Dimensions

Dial diameter, hand lengths, wall thickness and distance between the mechanism location and the clock hands.

3. Project scope

New clock, mechanism replacement, control system modernization or a complete renovation project.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about tower clocks

Is ELEMIK a tower clock manufacturer?

Yes. ELEMIK designs and manufactures tower clock mechanisms and develops the associated control electronics, synchronization systems and mechanical solutions required for professional tower and facade clock installations.

Can the mechanism be replaced without replacing the clock face?

In many modernization projects the existing dial can be retained while the movement, drive connection and control electronics are replaced. The final solution depends on the technical condition of the existing clock.

What if the mechanism cannot be mounted directly behind the dial?

A dedicated mounting structure and shaft extension can be used to transfer the movement through a wall or from a more accessible service location.

How can a tower clock be synchronized?

ELEMIK control systems can use network-based NTP synchronization or GPS/GNSS synchronization, depending on the infrastructure and project requirements.

Do you supply only clock mechanisms?

No. Depending on the project, ELEMIK can supply the clock mechanism and controller or a wider system including mounting components, shaft extensions, clock hands and synchronization equipment.
