PW Clock Hand Gearbox for Illuminated Hands

The PW Clock Hand Gearbox is a robust mechanical transmission unit designed for tower clocks, façade clocks and architectural time displays with illuminated clock hands. Featuring a 1:12 gear ratio, it converts a single minute-hand drive input into coordinated movement of both the hour and minute hands. Its integrated power transfer system enables continuous electrical power delivery to both rotating hands. Designed to operate with the MZT Four-Way Clock Drive Distributor, it is ideal for multi-face tower clocks, new installations and clock modernisation projects.

The PW Clock Hand Gearbox is a mechanical transmission unit designed for tower clocks, façade clocks and architectural time displays with illuminated hour and minute hands. It combines a precision mechanical gear system with integrated electrical power transfer, providing a complete solution for driving and illuminating clock hands in multi-face clock installations.

The gearbox is designed to operate with the MZT Four-Way Clock Drive Distributor, or standard Elemik Clock Movement which distributes mechanical drive to individual clock faces. The PW gearbox receives rotational motion corresponding to the minute hand and converts it into coordinated movement of both the minute and hour hands.

The integrated 1:12 gear ratio ensures the correct relationship between the two hands. While the minute hand completes one full revolution every hour, the hour hand completes one revolution every twelve hours, providing accurate mechanical time indication from a single drive input.

Unlike conventional clock hand gearboxes, the PW features an integrated electrical power transfer system that supplies power to both rotating clock hands. This enables continuous illumination of the hour and minute hands, improving nighttime visibility without interfering with their mechanical movement.

The main mechanical unit features a robust cylindrical metal housing, a coaxial shaft assembly and a durable mounting bracket. Its construction is designed for demanding installations in church towers, public buildings, historic façades and custom architectural clock projects, where reliable operation and long-term durability are essential.

The gearbox can be used in both new clock installations and modernisation projects, including the conversion of existing multi-face tower clocks to systems with illuminated hands.

The PW is intended for clock manufacturers, installers and integrators seeking a reliable, professional and serviceable clock hand transmission system with integrated power delivery for illuminated hands.
